Myrtle Marie Haynes Sleight

Mrs. Myrtle Marie Haynes Sleight, 84, of 133 Myrtle Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Sleight was born March 20, 1928, in Surry County, the only child born to the late Hillary and Della Odessa Martin Haynes. Myrtle was a homemaker and a member of the Christian faith. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Rick Seal of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Franklin Sleight, Jr. and Dianne Sleight of Newport News, VA; two grandchildren, Derek Luckey George and Marla Marie George, both of Mount Airy; and two stepgrandchildren, Laura Amdusky of Chesapeake, VA, and Monica Friel of New York, NY. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sleight was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin Sleight, Sr. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with Brother Wayne Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 until 12:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
