Myrtle Marie (Hill) Wagoner

Mrs. Myrtle Marie Hill Wagoner, age 106 of Mount Airy passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Northern Regional Hospital.  Mrs. Wagoner was born on January 14, 1916, in Surry County, one of twelve children to the late James Everett and Criscilla Beasley Hill.  Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She along with her husband ran Wagoner’s Grocery on Bluemont Road for many years.  Myrtle was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church while her health permitted.  Left to cherish her memories are a special niece, Rachel Ramey; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wagoner was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Thomas Wagoner; two infant children, Ben Dee Wagoner and Linda Ann Wagoner; four sisters, Edith Hill Hawks, Mary Hill Beamer, Ethel Hill; one infant sister, Annie Hill; seven brothers, Reid Hill, Elijah Hill, Zeb Hill, Clyde Hill, Will Hill, Earl Hill, and Jess Hill.  A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Alex Martin and Steve Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Northern Regional Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Floor and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their love and compassion given to Mrs. Wagoner during her time of illness.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Services is serving the family.
