Myrtle Marie (Phillips) Wood

Mrs. Myrtle Marie Phillips Wood, age 90 of Mount Airy, North Carolina passed away on January 8, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. She was born in Surry County on May 19, 1931, to the late John Benton and Annie Lee Stone Phillips. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Surviving is her daughter, Phyllis Wood; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny Wilson Wood and wife Christine; six grandchildren, Lisa Marie Simmons, Bowen Ward, Bonita Smith, Jessica Prosser, Jeramie Wood, Angela Wood; twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob Golding, Charley Golding, Robert Ward, Scharlynn Ward, Annie Webb, Sophia Webb, Lilly Prosser, Liam Prosser, Jace Parent, Brianna Wood, Alyssa Wood, and Bryce Hatcher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Wilson Wood; a son, Duane Benton Wood and wife Carol Ann; a sister Loretta Phillips Watson. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Davis Smith officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o David Whitfield, 1076 Hidden Valley Road, Lowgap, North Carolina 27024 Moody Funeral Service in Mount Airy is serving the family.
