Mrs. Nancy Reynolds Hornaday, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hornaday was born November 3, 1929, in Surry County, to Arthur and Gertrude Seagraves Reynolds. She was a member of Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Hornaday of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Barbara Hornaday of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Billy Hornaday, Jr. and his wife, Tonya, of Pinnacle, and Nancy "Kandi" Mayes and her husband, Shane, of the home; great-grandchildren, Santana, Jennifer, and Brian Mayes, all of the home, Mikey, Cole, Kale, and Kyle Hornaday, all of Pinnacle; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mac and Susie Reynolds and Jim Reynolds, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hornaday was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Hornaday; a sister, Wilma Butera; and brothers, Garnett Reynolds and Caldwell Reynolds. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Tommy Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the Amazing Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Nancy Hornaday Funeral Fund at Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Tina Leonard and Tonya Marshall, for the special care and love given to Mrs. Hornaday during her illness.
