Nancy Caroline Edwards Lyons

Mrs. Nancy Caroline Edwards Lyons, 89, of 183 Paul's Creek Road, Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lyons was born November 6, 1921, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late John Robert and Surena Alice Cagle Edwards. Caroline retired from Amos Knitwear and was a member of Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cana, VA. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles E. and Barbara Lyons and Elden W. and Mona Lyons, all of Cana, VA; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Cora and Everette Hawks of Cana, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Wilson Lyons; two sisters, Ruby Gertrude Edwards and Ruth Edwards Crotts; and three brothers, Garnett Edwards, Monroe Edwards, and Ruben Edwards. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 14, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Syreda Bryant, the Rev. Gray Cook, and the Rev. Eddie Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fancy Gap Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their loving and compassionate care of Caroline during her illness. Also, a special thanks is extended to Sherry Sechrest, Jerry Edwards, Perry Otto Lyons, Renee Lyons, and Chris Davis for the care and love given to Caroline.
