Nancy Nelson

          Mrs. Nancy West Nelson, age 61 of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Patrick County on April 6, 1958 to the late Levi Joseph West and Beatrice Layman West.  Nancy had been a teller with First National Bank and a Teacher’s Aide with the Patrick County Public School System.  She was a member of Meadow United Methodist Church.  She loved riding horses, watching her daughter ride horses, and enjoying her grandbabies.

          Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Steve Nelson of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Billie Jo Nelson of Spencer; one daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Rusty Greenwood of Claudville; three grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, and Abigail Nelson; two brothers and a sister-in-law, David L. West of Roanoke, Murray J. and Donna West of Pinehurst, NC; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Steve Langefeld of Asheville, NC, Denise and Walt Elliott of Lucama, NC; two nieces, Stephanie and Andrea Langefeld; and two step-nephews, Jeff Elliott and wife, Christy and Zack Elliott and wife, Suzanne and step-great-niece and nephew, Amelia Elliot and Colin Elliot.

          Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors Mark Collins and John Franklin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
