Nancy Elizabeth Welch

Miss Nancy Elizabeth Welch, 74, of Lewisville, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born May 3, 1942, in Surry County, to the late George H. and Jessie Belton Welch. Nancy retired from Forsyth County Child Support after 28 years of service and was a cheerful giver and a friend to all who knew her. She was an avid lover of animals and was a supporter of her family. Surviving are her best friend, Marilyn Thornton of Lewisville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Al Tolbert and Jane and Lynn Cooke, all of Mount Airy, and Pat Kinney and Carl Baber of Mount Holly; a brother and sisters-in-law, Joe and Gail Welch of Jamestown and Jerrie Welch Gordon of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews, whom she dearly loved; and her canine companion, Thor. In addition to her parents, Miss Welch was preceded in death by four sisters, Jessica Allred, Peggy Sue Welch, Dorothy Clifton, and LaRue Stanley; and three brothers, George Welch, Jr., Charles Randall Welch, and Francis Grant “Frank” Welch. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 25, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Rusty Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to express a “special thanks” to Dr. Philip Keith and the 5th floor cardiology unit staff at Forsyth Medical Center for the special care during Miss Welch.
