Naomi Katherine Smith Marion

Ms. Naomi Katherine Smith Marion, 78, of 221 Cedar Ridge Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, September 2, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Ms. Marion was born June 14, 1937, in Grayson County, VA, the daughter of the late Emmett McDaniel and Bessie Lee Bartlett Smith. Katherine worked as a waitress at Dianna's Restaurant for many years. She is survived by five daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and William Mabe, Lisa and Mike Hodges, Vickie Porter, Cindy Moore, and Rhonda Nixon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn Westbrook and Rick and Debbi Marion; several grandchildren, including Jacob Robertson, Mason Gray, Isaac Mabe, and Shawna Westerfield; several great-grandchildren, including Landon Westerfield; a brother, W.D. Smith; several nieces, nephews, and special friends; and a very special friend, James Nichols. In addition to her parents, Ms. Marion was preceded in death three sisters, Almeda Sexton, Wyoma Hurley, and Billie Karns; and a brother, J.D. Smith. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 6, 2015, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
