Naomi Inez Hodge Newman

Mrs. Naomi Inez Hodge Newman, 83, of 172 Lynnwood Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, May 29, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Newman was born October 19, 1925, in Surry County, to the late Thomas H. and Roxy Scott Hodge. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Newman was a loving wife and mother and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her. Surviving are her husband, Monroe Edwin Newman of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Dale and Roger Haymore of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norris and Jo Hodge and Raymond and Jessie Hodge, all of Mount Airy; two nieces, Jeannette Shelton and Debbie Shelton, both of Mount Airy; and a nephew, Dennis Raines of Stuart, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Clyde Raines. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
