Nedra Edwards

Nedra “Ma” Mayes Edwards, age 66, of Lowgap, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 21, 2021.  She was born in Surry County, NC to the late Curtis Mayes and Hassie Moore Mayes Jarrell.  Mrs. Edwards was a faithful Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved cooking and serving others. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nelvra Susan Dozier; brothers, Dennis Curtis Mayes, Delane Dale Mayes and David Lee Mayes; step-father, Woodrow Jarrell.  Left to cherish her memories are her significant other, Lester Edwards; her daughters and son-in-law, Crystal and Brad Brindle and Nina Byrd; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Wayne Edwards, Henry Allen and Susan Edwards, Tommy Floyd Edwards; eight grandchildren, Corabelle Brindle and Wesley Wood, Gracie Ann Brindle, Aaron Jarvis, Serina Jarvis, Mykinna Jarvis, Zebulun Jarvis, Richard Allen Edwards, William Allen Edwards and six great-grandchildren, Samuel, Maddie, Cohen, Easton, Iris and Riley; mother, Hassie Moore Mayes Jarrell; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Larry Dean Payne; several nieces and nephews.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  There will be no formal services held at the funeral home.  Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Edwards family.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
