Nell Denny McKinney

Mrs. Nell Denny McKinney, of Pinnacle, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1925, to John Willis and Betty Dodson Denny. On December 7, 1946, she married the love of her life, Glenn McKinney, who passed away on May 28, 1968. Nell remained his devoted wife and soul mate for the rest of her life. She was a faithful member of Pinnacle View Baptist Church for 70 years. She retired from Northern Hospital of Surry County in 1992 after 23 years of service. Mrs. McKinney is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann McKinney of the home; two granddaughters, Marie Holt Pusey and husband, Craig, of West Union, SC, and Marianne Holt of Pilot Mountain; a great-grandson, Ben Pusey; two great-granddaughters, Amber and April Collins; and a special "granddaughter," Jenna Pruitt. Also surviving are a brother, J.W. Denny formerly of Pilot Mountain; a sister, Pansy Broughton and her husband, John, of Pilot Mountain; a sister-in-law, Mae McKinney Slate; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents; her precious husband, Glenn; and a sister, Foye Burge. The family will receive friends at Pinnacle View Baptist Church on Monday evening, March 29, 2010, from 6:00 until 8:00, and other times at the home of her daughter. Her funeral will be at the church on Tuesday March 30, 2010, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Ronnie Chamblin, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
