Nellie Mae Chaney Bowman

Mrs. Nellie Mae Chaney Bowman, 86, of 422 Marigold Lane, Ararat, VA, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born September 3, 1923, in Surry County, to the late Marion Franklin and Minnie Mae Collins Chaney. She retired from Lynn Hosiery and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy B. and Marshall Yates of Walnut Cove; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas F. and Becky Bowman of Mount Airy; and three grandchildren, Shanna Bowman of Walnut Cove, Jesse Bowman of Ararat, VA, and Elijah Bowman of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Clifton Bowman. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dean Eaton and Brother Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowman Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
