Mrs. Nellie Tucker Southern Goins, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Goins was born February 27, 1920, in Stokes County, to the late Calvin and Lucy Wall Tucker. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Blue Ridge Tabernacle Church. Mrs. Goins is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Southern of Mount Airy; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Edna Southern of Stuart, VA, Ray and Faye Southern, Alex and Glenda Southern, Harvey and Sarah Southern, and Vicky Southern, all of Mount Airy; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Southern; her second husband, Cecil Goins; two sons, Tommy Southern and Larry Southern; two sisters, Fannie Tucker and Bonnie Tucker; nine brothers, Claude, Paul, Raymond, Ross, Carl, Fount, John, Richard, and Tommy Tucker. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 8, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ed Coins and the Rev. George Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Quaker Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Stokes County. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
