Mrs. Nellie Ruth Tucker Smith, 74, of Mount Airy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Smith was born August 6, 1936, in Stokes County, to the late James Otto and Rebecca Ann "Annie" Shelton Tucker. She retired from Renfro Hosiery, was a homemaker, and was a member of the First Church of the Brethren. She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Frances Link of Madison, Judy and Junior Stevens of Westfield, Ruth and Chris Williams of Mount Airy, Patricia and Phil Vestal of Elkin, and Lisa and Jason Bingman of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mitchell and Tammy Arrington and Scottie and Kelly Smith, all of Mount Airy; twenty-two grandchildren; a very special grandson, Cody Smith, who was always there to assist his grandmother; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Roger Tolbert of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Leroy Smith; an infant great-grandson, Joshua Cole Arnder; three sisters, Margaret Gibson, Doris Tucker Ore, and Betty Tucker Tolbert; and a brother, James Leonard Tucker. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dennis Arrington and the Rev. Keith Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Moravian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
