Nellie Irene Cole Stevens

Mrs. Nellie Irene Cole Stevens, age 81 of Mt. Airy, widow of Claude James Stevens, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Stevens was born in Surry County, October 10, 1925 to Reid and Daisy Holt Cole. She was a retired from Perry Mfg. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Stevens of the home; grandchildren, Michael Stevens of the home; Jessy Lewis Stevens, Jr. and Debbie Shortt; Kevin Stevens and wife Jeanna; great grandchildren; Jessica Manuel, Stacy Stevens, Levi Stevens and Travis Stevens; great-great grandchildren, Destiny Smith and Ali Bree Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Louise Cole of Ararat, VA; and Lou Cole of Mt. Airy; and special friends, Connie Barnes, Bea Moseley, Ola Newman, Phyllis Sutphin, Beth Ayers, Penny Culler and many wonderful friends too numerous to mention. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Burkhart, infant sister, Kathy Cole; and brothers, James, John, Bruce and Paul Cole. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Korner's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Chaplain Todd Byrd. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 until the time to depart for the service.
