Nellie Mae Taylor

Ms. Nellie Mae Haynes Taylor, 82, of Mt. Airy, NC, passed away at Northern Regional Hospital, December 11, 2020.  She was born in Surry County, December 6, 1938 to the late Thomas Martin Haynes and Mary Catherine “Cassie” Gates Haynes.  She was a wonderful, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Ms. Taylor retired from Cross Creek Apparel. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya and Michael McGehee, and Patricia and Dorian Gwyn; a son, Gary Wayne Snow; grandchildren and spouses, Mark and Crystal Snow, Christopher Anthony, Amanda Gwyn and Perry Simmons, Tabathia and Miguel Acvedo, William and Sheralin Anthony, Travis and Samantha Bowman, Clint and Chasity Linville, Gina Gionelli, Nikki Fielder; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Kornell Hooker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wade and Carol Haynes, and Glenn and Ginger Haynes, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by a son, James Haynes; a great-grandchild, David Gionelli;  sisters, Wanda Midkiff,  and Diane Marie Haynes; and brothers, Tommy, and Joseph Haynes.   A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy with Rev, Butch Holder officiating.  There will not be a formal visitation prior to the service.
