Mrs. Nina Mae Jones Blizard, 83, of Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, formerly of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, with her family by her side. Mrs. Blizard was born October 27, 1925, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Harmon William and Laura Lou Rippey Easter. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Paul's Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Gail Jones of Cana, VA; a granddaughter, Michella Jones Huff and husband, Kevin, of Mount Airy; two great-grandchildren, Seiver Huff and Jansen Huff, both of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Tammy Easter of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Leronia Easter of Greensboro; brothers-in-law, Plato Brim and Codell Inman, both of Mount Airy; a brother-in-law and his spouse, Buster and Mary Lee Jones of Cana, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Blizard was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil "Bunk" Jones; her second husband, Garnett "Red" Blizard; a daughter, Joann Marie Jones; four sisters, Mary June Brim, Peggy Joyce Inman, Helen Easter Cornelius, and Carolyn Lou Simmons; and a brother, James Harmon Easter. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, by the Rev. Larry Jones and the Rev. Dale Wallace. Burial will follow in the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:30 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
