Nina Rae McCreary Crowder

Mrs. Nina Rae McCreary Crowder, 84, of Lowgap, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Crowder was born August 5, 1923, in Surry County, to Franklin Cornelius and Myrtle Elizabeth McMillian McCreary. She retired from North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles after 30 years of service. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Johnny T. Brady of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Michael Brady and wife, Cindy, of Charlotte, and Shannon B. Humrickhouse and husband, Tom, of Tega Cay, SC; three great-grandchildren, Kirsten Brady, Madison Brady, and Alayna Rae Humrickhouse; sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen Wood and Mary Ann and Joe White, all of Mount Airy; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Donna Beasley of Galax, VA, Robert Beasley of Dobson, Kodell Maney of Elon, Hilda Crowder of Gibsonville, and Louella Metcalf of Asheville; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends including, Ray and Brenda Killon of Lowgap. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crowder was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ira Crowder; and a brother, Sam McCreary. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 2, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. C.L. Walker, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
