Mrs. Nina Mae Dawson Fleming, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Fleming was born April 4, 1929, in Surry County, to Arthur Marvin and Thelma Jarrell Dawson. She retired from Adams-Millis and was a member of the former Emmanuel Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Marlene Fields of the home; a granddaughter, Teresa Bond of Mount Airy; a grandson, Lacy Douglas "Luther" Bond and his fiance, Scharlene Butler, and her children, Donald Hatcher and Corinna Hatcher of the home; a great-grandson, Tony Collins of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Josie Faye and Don Wagoner of Conover and Ruby Goins of Mount Airy; a brother, the Rev. Junior Dawson of Mount Airy; nephews, Rodney D. Hall of Newton, Eddy Hall of Conover, and Tom Wagoner and his wife, Regina, of Mooresville; and a niece, Brenda Armstrong and her husband, Archie, of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Worrell "Doug" Fleming; a brother-in-law, Roland L. Goins, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Dawson. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 7, 2008, at The Peoples Church, conducted by the Rev. Junior Dawson, the Rev. Gene Brinkley, and the Rev. Bill Watson. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at The Peoples Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to The Peoples Church, 218 Gospel Time Way, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all the love and care given to Mrs. Fleming during her illness.
