Mrs. Nina Branscome Semones, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Semones was born January 21, 1920, in Carroll County, VA, to Loranzie Cassell and Lottie Ethel Bowman Branscome. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her loving family and friends, and was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Robert Stanley of Ararat, VA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Cassell and Freida Semones, Sylvian and Lovelene Semones, and Wayne and Dianne Semones, all of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Clifton Martin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Semones was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wales Semones; a sister, Belva Martin; and a brother, Georgie Branscome. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 5, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, conducted by Dr. Victor Lyons and the Rev. Dwight Sechrist. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
