Nita Carico Hiatt, 79 of Memphis, Tennessee after battling a long illness, passed away on January 31, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband George W. Hiatt. Born in Ennice, North Carolina, she was one of twelve children. After graduating from Nursing School in North Carolina, she worked for a few years till moving to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1958, where she took a leave of absence to raise her five children. In 1982, she began work again as an RN at Saint Francis Hospital till retiring in 1995. She is survived by her brother Elmer Carico and sisters, Opal Wilson, Juanita Carpenter, Ella Davis, and Jeanette Morris. She leaves two sons, Dean Hiatt and Barry Hiatt (Rena) and three daughters, Vickie Thomas, Pam Hiatt, (Rob), and Sheila Burlison (Chuck). She also leaves eight grandchildren, Brooke (Gary), Amber (Tommy), Drew, Britney, Justin, Austin, Lindsey and Blaine, and three great grandchildren, McCoy, Cole, and Bennett. Services will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Sunday February 3, 2013. Visitation will begin at 1:00 followed by a service at 2:00. A funeral service will be held at Savannah United Methodist Church in Ennice, NC on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 with burial to follow at Edmonds Cametery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to Emmanuel United Methodist Church or Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville.
