Mr. Noah Moncus, 82, of Mount Airy, went to join his loving wife, Alice Belle “Bunny” Monday Moncus, on Wednesday morning, July 13, 2016, while surrounded by his family. Mr. Moncus was born January 1, 1934, in Surry County, one of three sons born to the late Ellis and Ella Blevins Moncus. Noah retired as a construction supervisor from Pike Electric after 37 years of service. He enjoyed family gatherings at the “Monkus Cabin,” daily meals at The Hungry Farmer Restaurant, and loved being an avid carp fisherman. His fishing buddies left to cherish memories are Timmy Crotts and Beau Hutchens. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth W. “Pete” and Pam Moncus of Jonesville; a granddaughter, Emily Williams and her husband, Seth; two great-granddaughters, Aylabelle Williams and Abigail Williams; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Judson and Evalee Monkus of Dobson and Myrtle Moncus of Lambsburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Moncus was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Moncus. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Doug Cockerham and the Rev. Steven Boyd officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the home of Kenneth W. “Pete” and Pam Moncus at 3826 Running Deer Road in Jonesville. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Surry County EMS, Dr. Lawing, Dr. Thurber, and Dr. McDonald. Also, the family would like to express their gratitude to Melinda, Doris, Kathy, and Chaplain Mark with Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, as well as Carrie Ward, his caregiver, for their tender, loving care.
