Mrs. Norma Ella Hill Jarrell, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday night, November 15, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Jarrell was born May 28, 1927, in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Cladie and Allie Lawson Hill. Norma retired as an inspector from Cross Creek Apparel and was a member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Wayne and Sherry Hudson Jarrell of Mount Airy; a grandson, Logan McKenzie Jarrell of Mount Airy; a sister, Doris Hill Mills of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Ardena Jarrell Moncus of Mount Airy; three special nieces, Brenda Mills, Debbie Jones, and Pam Davis; several other nieces and nephews; special cousins, Kester and Rachael Jarrell and Norris and Faye Jarrell, all of Mount Airy; and many special neighbors and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jarrell was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wayne Jarrell; a sister and four brothers-in-law, Margaret and Joe Sutphin, Ed Mills, Benjamin Franklin "B.F." Jarrell, and Curtis Moncus; and a brother, Morris Hill. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 18, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Buffkin and the Rev. Stewart R. Mauck officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hand Up Africa, c/o Rev. Stewart R. Mauck, 137 Holly Hill Drive, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Norma's extended family at Mount Airy Dialysis Center for their loving and compassionate care for the past two years. Also, the family is truly grateful to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their tender care and kindness.
