Norma Lee "Dot" Tickle Simpson

Mrs. Norma Lee “Dot” Tickle Simpson, 94, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2022, at her home.  Mrs. Simpson was born March 1, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Charlie Albert and Sarah Elizabeth Creed Tickle.  Dot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was the oldest member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, a diehard Duke Blue Devils basketball fan, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  Left to cherish her memories are her children, Larry and Libby Simpson, Gary Simpson (Carol Barnes), Jean Conrad, and Joan Simpson (Ron Perry); her granddaughter, Katy Mojica and her husband, Roy; two great-grandchildren, Carmen Mojica and Amelia Mojica; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gurnie Ross Simpson; a daughter, Bonnie Carol Simpson; five sisters, Lottie Bennett, Lettie Mosley, Nina Fields, Rene Lucas, and Lala Lambert; and four brothers, Carl Tickle, Elmer Tickle, Frank Tickle and Russell Jones.  A service of worship and celebration of Dot’s life will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kyle R. Caudle officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina, P.O.
