Norma Dean Ricker Hiatt

Mrs. Norma Dean Ricker Hiatt, age 85 of Mount Airy passed away at her home on Sunday March 17, 2024.  She was born February 25, 1939, in Greene County, TN to the late Leon Charles Ricker and Bonnie Pearl Johnson Ricker.  She was a loving homemaker who loved her family more than life itself.  Mrs. Hiatt sang in the hospice choir, loved to go flat foot dancing, and was a long-time member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.   Norma was an excellent cook, and she and her friends would go out visiting shut ins and providing whatever their needs might be.  Grandmama took excellent care of her daughter Sissy, always making life enjoyable and easier for her.  Grandmama loved watching softball on TV, and when the kids were in school, she never missed going and watching their games.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Becky Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kim Hiatt; two granddaughters, Jessica Hiatt Dix and Greg, and Claire Montgomery; grandson, Campbell and Marissa Montgomery; great grandson, Beckett Grant Montgomery who was an absolute joy to her; grandson by choice, Morgan Butler and fiancé Hanna Hodges and their daughter Harlyn; special friends, Donna Helton, Barbara McMillian, Betty Jo Hooker, and Mozelle Hiatt; special fur baby, Millie, and several other family and friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gilbert Hiatt; daughter, Cynthia Gail “Sissy” Hiatt; and her infant sister, Barbara Jean Ricker.  Funeral services will be held Thursday March 21, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jon Cawley and Chris Hiatt officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
