Norma Lee Creed Tucker

Ms. Norma Lee Creed Tucker, 73, of 170 Lindsay Creed Lane, Mount Airy, better known as "Me Ma" to everyone, passed away Friday morning, December 10, 2010, at Central Continuing Care. Ms. Tucker was born July 8, 1937, in Surry County, daughter of the late Lindsay and Betty Moser Creed. She was last employed at Proctor-Silex Inc. and The Family Hair Center. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Chuck Hiatt of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joey and Donna Tucker of Dobson and Todd and Audrey Tucker of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren, Lindsay Tucker, Toby Hiatt and his wife, Staci, Tyler Hiatt and his fiancée, Michelle Lavine, Jordon Tucker, Haley Tucker, Tanner Hiatt, Tedi Sue Tucker, Noah Hiatt, Jared Hiatt, and Cassie Hiatt; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Arlene Stewart of Raleigh and Hilda and Ben Nichols of Mount Airy; and a special nurse and niece, Robin Benfield of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Ms. Tucker was preceded in death by the father of her children, Joe Bill Tucker; a grandson, Landon Tucker; two brothers, Hugh Creed and Joe Creed; and a special nephew, Layne Creed. A celebration of Norma's life will be held Monday, December 13, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Union Hill Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Ronald Thomas, the Rev. Fonda Younger, and the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home or church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and to Rosa for all the love and care given to Norma during her illness.
