North Sylvester Smith

Mr. North Sylvester Smith, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at his home.  Mr. Smith was born April 22, 1937, in Patrick County, VA, to the late John Moir and Annie Ruth Culler Smith.  He retired as a roofer from Bowman Roofing after many years of service.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mildred Felts Smith of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda Holyfield and Annette and Randy Montgomery; five grandchildren, Zack Peeples, Mark Peeples, Abbegayle Holyfield, Emaily Holyfield, and Bryson Holyfield; four great-grandchildren, Conner Schuyler, Lexi Peeples, Owen Childress, and Ava Goodwin; a sister, Janet Barnes; and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Lena Smith.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Lance Smith and Delmar Smith.  The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Bill Faw officiating.  Burial will follow in the Center Church Cemetery in Ararat, VA.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
