Rev. Odell White, 89, of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Rev. White was born in Randolph County on February 14, 1934, to the late Andrew Jackson and Sallie Coley White. He retired from Claude Golding Construction Company. Rev. White preached the gospel of Jesus Christ in churches and did prison ministry for many years. He was a beekeeper for many years. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Darlene Jessup; grandchildren, Melissa and Cory Shelton, Tina and Joe Nester; Odell was blessed with many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, a stepdaughter, Lucy Hice; a stepson, Tim Isaacs; a sister, Pat White; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Rev. White was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Irene Sawyers White; a son, Rickey White; granddaughter, Michelle Cunningham; a stepdaughter, Patty Isaacs; a stepson, Jimmy Isaacs; sisters, Lenora Johnson, Margret Trogden, Lovalla Lucas, and Alma White; brothers, Perry White, and Oaklie White. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Peoples Church Cemetery with the Rev. Cory Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 PM until time to leave for the service at Moody Funeral home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
