Ola Forrest Edwards

Mrs. Ola Forrest Edwards, 98, of 1167 North Franklin Road, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, December 28, 2011, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Edwards was born October 12, 1913, in Surry County, the daughter of the late James and Mahalie Inman Forrest. Ola retired from Spencer's Inc. after many years of service and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She is survived by a stepson and three stepdaughters-in-law, Burley and Dawn Edwards of Arlington, VA, and Betty Edwards and Polly Payne, both of Mount Airy; ten stepgrandchildren; several great-stepgrandchildren; several great-great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Valentine Edwards; three stepsons, Johnny C. Edwards, Raymond F. Edwards, and Arvin E. Edwards; three sisters, Lena Forrest Taylor, Lula Forrest O'Neal, and Nina Haymore; and a brother, Lacy Forrest. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
