Ola Gertrude Stewart Snow

Mrs. Ola Gertrude Stewart Snow, 94, of 143 Ola Snow Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Snow was born September 1, 1913, in Surry County, to the late Rufus and Mary Etta Weatherman Stewart. She was a homemaker and the oldest living member of White Plains Friends Meeting. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Snow Hamby of Mount Airy and Ann and Bill Smith of Walnut Cove; two daughters-in-law, Carmen Hamby Snow of Mount Airy and Carolyn Snow of Williamsburg, VA; eight grandchildren, Sherri Brintle of Mount Airy, Billie Gail Ciano of Freehold, NJ, Kitty Warren of Colonial Beach, VA, Chadwick D. Smith of Concord, J. Kyle Smith of Conover, Thomas R. Snow of Mount Airy, Derrick Snow of Williamsburg, VA, and Patrick Snow of Liverpool, England; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Snow was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Thomas "Tom" Snow; two sons, Bill Snow and Donald Gray Snow; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Fulk Snow; two sisters, Susie Keaton and Stella Venable; and a brother, Wiley Venable. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Friends Meeting. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Wayne Johnson and the Rev. Bill Watson, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at White Plains Friends Meeting.
