Oliver Talmadge Draughn

Mr. Oliver Talmadge Draughn, 82, of High Point, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011, at High Point Regional Hospital. Mr. Draughn was born September 13, 1928, in Surry County, the son of the late Benjamin Edgar and Clara Watson Draughon. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Kroger's. Mr. Draughn is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David O. and Brenda Draughn and Michael S. and Joni Draughn, all of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Jamie D. Sykes and her husband, Chris, Taylor M. Draughn, and Megan A. Draughn, all of Winston-Salem; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, Wayne Draughon of Reidsville, and Gilbert Draughon and Allen and Betty Draughon, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Draughn was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn Coble Draughn. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 26, 2011, at 12:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. John Sides and David O. Draughn officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 until 12:30 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Oak Hill Friends Meeting, 2001 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or a charity of choice.
