Oliver Thomas Tickle

Mr. Oliver Thomas Tickle, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Tickle was born October 10, 1935, in Surry County, to the late Frank Howard and Lillie Betty Beasley Tickle. He was a retired supervisor from Kentucky Derby Hosiery and a member of Union Hill Friends Meeting. He is survived by his wife, Jan Hudson Tickle of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Tickle of Winston-Salem and Brian and Regina Tickle of Christiansburg, VA; a stepdaughter, LeAnn Wright of Murrells Inlet, SC; and five grandchildren, Kadin Tickle of Dobson, Chase Tickle and his wife, Stephanie, of East Bend, and Brady Tickle, Erica Tickle, and Adam Tickle, all of Christiansburg, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tickle was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma McHone Tickle; and a brother, Donald Tickle. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 24, 2010, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, with Dr. Roger B. Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the Fireside Room at First Baptist Church.
