Mrs. Oma Lee Wood Goodson, 91, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on April 17, 1930 to the late Hillary and Lucy Jane Amburn Wood. Mrs. Goodson worked at Washington Mills, and a faithful member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church. Mrs. Goodson was well known for her great cooking and her willingness to serve others who were in need. She will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. She is survived by grandchildren, Heath Goodson, Todd and Jennifer Goodson; four great grandchildren, Emily Edwards, Katlin Goodson, Kirsten Payne, and Chase Goodson; four great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goodson was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Johnny Goodson; a son, Dennis Ray Goodson; a great great grandchild, Kynslee Ann Payne; sisters, Gladys Hawks, Edna Wood, Stella Ramey, Carrie Mae White, Virginia Crouse, Geneva Todd, and Mary Faye Wilmoth; brothers, Edgar Wood, Columbus Wood. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Atkins, and the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Moody funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
