Mrs. Oma Elizabeth “Omie” Lester Lambert, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday evening, April 2, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lambert was born December 13, 1938, in McDowell County, WV, one of fifteen children born to the late Matthew William and Martillie Knuckles Lester. Omie worked as a knitter in several hosiery mills throughout her life and was a faithful member of Dobson Church of God. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Jan and Danny Rouse, Lynn Lambert, and Mary Lee Lambert; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul David and Mari Lambert and John Samuel and Darlene Lambert; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Lester, Linda Hammond, and Faye Lester; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Roger and Barbara Lester, Larry Lester, and Doug Lester; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel Dean Lambert; a son, Darrel Dean “Junior” Lambert, Jr.; a grandson, Joseph Lambert; a great-grandson, Allen Lambert; five sisters, Brenda Lawson, Virgie Sloan, Jenny Raby, Nora Melko, and Mildred Miller; and three brothers, Gene Lester, Guy Lester, and Paul Lester. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Dobson Church of God, with the Rev. Brandon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
