Ona Mae McKinney Slate

Mrs. Ona “Mae” McKinney Slate, age 82, of Pinnacle passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Surry County on February 6, 1934 to the late Willis and Anna Mills McKinney. Mrs. Slate retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a faithful member of Pinnacle View Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Herman Frances Slate “Jr.”; a beloved son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Ann Davidson Slate of Pinnacle; and a special granddaughter, Carlee Davidson of Pinnacle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Glenn and Claude McKinney. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Pinnacle View Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Chamblin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Slate family.
