Opal Allene Robertson Draughn Clement

Mrs. Opal Allene Robertson Draughn Clement, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2018, at Agapé Hospice Home and Suites in Lexington, SC. Mrs. Clement was born December 8, 1924, in Surry County, one of eight children born to the late Grover Cleveland and Amanda Taylor Robertson. Opal retired from Spencer’s Inc. after 41 years of service and was a faithful member of Dover Baptist Church until her health declined. Opal is survived by two stepchildren, Deborah Clement Priddy of Mount Airy and James Moore Clement, Jr. of Saint Petersburg, FL; her grandchildren, Jaye “GiGi” and Ken Godley of Lexington, SC, and J.J. “Jay” and Susan Atkins of Raleigh; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Maddy Atkins and JoHannah Atkins, both of Raleigh, and Cole Godley and Carson Godley, both of Lexington, SC; several great-stepgrandchildren; a brother, William Perry Robertson of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clement was preceded in death by her first husband, Gratsie Herman Draughn; her second husband, James Moore Clement, Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne Draughn Atkins and Jay G. Atkins; a stepdaughter, Elaine Clement O’Kelly; two sisters, Sadie Ann Robertson Draughn and Ruby Magalene Robertson Migliore Hall; and four brothers, Grady Robertson, Jimmie Robertson, Wayne Robertson, and Raymond Robertson. A service of worship and celebration of Opal’s life will be held Friday, February 9, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
