Opal Frances Goad Marshall

Mrs. Opal Goad Marshall, age 84, of Ararat, VA passed away early Saturday morning October 21, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.  She loved to cook, crochet, work in her flowers, and help anyone that was in need.  Opal and Glenn would sell peaches from under the shed and talk to everyone that would come by.  Nanny loved her grandbabies more than anything.  Opal loved her church and attending Doe Run Baptist Church.  Reading was one of her loves, riding on the parkway and looking at the changing of the leaves was another and sitting on the front porch looking at the mountains.  Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Karen Campbell (Kevin Clark); son, Kevin Marshall (Jennifer); grandchildren, Kayla Collins (Dustin), Devin Hill, and Ashley Hill; great-grandchildren, Liam Collins and Kaison Collins; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Stanley Goad and Carlos and Diona Goad; and many other family and friends.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Glenn Edward Marshall; and a sister-in-law, Linda Goad.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 24, 2023, at 11:00am at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery with services conducted by Rev. Ricky Martin.  The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30am until time to leave for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Marshall to Mountain Valley Hospice 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
