Mrs. Opal Willey Johnson, 89, of 886 Smith Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Central Continuing Care. Mrs. Johnson was born June 12, 1918, in Surry County, to the late William G. and Sarah Ila Smith Willey. She retired from Spencer's Inc. and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Arlene Dollyhigh and Sandra Kaye Dollyhigh, both of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Webster and Peanut Johnson of Mount Airy; three grandsons and a spouse, Timothy and Dena Dollyhigh, James Mark "Tank" Dollyhigh, and Johnny Ray Gwyn, all of Mount Airy; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Charlie Willey of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Webster Johnson; a son-in-law, Ulysses Ray Dollyhigh; and a sister, Ruby Hawks. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Ricky Atkins officiating. No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home.
