Opal Forrest Pike passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at her home in Mount Airy. Mrs. Pike was born October 18, 1914, in Oxford. She was the daughter of William Emmett Forrest, Sr. and Margaret Haynes Forrest. Mrs. Pike was the wife of the late Floyd S. Pike. Together, they founded Floyd S. Pike Electrical Contractors, Inc. Mrs. Pike's survivors are her son, Joe B. Pike and his wife, Anne; a grandson, Eric Pike and his wife, Belinda, and their sons, Will and Ben; a granddaughter, Margaret Pike and her husband, Dr. David Werle, and their daughter, Katie Pike-Werle, and a new daughter who is due next week; and a brother, William Emmett Forrest, Jr. Mrs. Pike's sister, Frances Forrest Martin, preceded her in death. A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of Opal Forrest Pike will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 18, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The service will be officiated by the Rev. J. Kip Smith and the Rev. Paul Riggs. The family will receive friends in the church's Fireside Room, where Mrs. Pike will lie-in-state from 12:30 until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted.
