Ophelia Lowe Kirby

Mrs. Ophelia Lowe Kirby, 92, of Lowgap, widow of Roy Kirby, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson. Mrs. Kirby was born April 23, 1914, in Surry County, to the late Eddie and Matilda Wilson Lowe. She was a loving sister and aunt to several nieces and nephews. Surviving are two half-sisters, Estelle Hawks of Galax, VA, and Io Harrison of Lowgap; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by a sister, Elvie Lowe; two brothers, Audy Lowe and Curtis Lowe; a half sister, Odessa Lowe Brown; and a half-brother, Eddie Hubbart. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 12, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Woody Flippin. Burial will follow in the Kirby-Lowe Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
