Opra Ella Arrington Evans

Mrs. Opra Ella Arrington Evans, 90 of Mount Airy, passed from this earthly life to her heavenly home on Friday night March 9, 2018. She was born on September 9, 1927 in Surry County to the late William Edward Arrington and Daisy Leigh Wood Arrington. Mrs. Evans retired from Quality Mills Inc. and was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Bill Wall, and Karen and Scott Snow; four grandchildren, Shannon Wall, Brandon Wall, Matthew Snow, and Maddie Snow; two great-granddaughters, Jayden Wall and Emma Wall; a sister, Joann Chilton; brother and sister-in-law, Edsel and Geri Arrington, several nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Allen Keith Bailey. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Gail Evans; her husband of 47 years, Clinard E. Evans; and four brothers, Elmer, Howard, Clyde, and Roland Arrington. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, March 13, 2018 at Woodville Baptist Church at 2pm. Services will be conducted by Mr. Bill Wall, Rev. Jeff Wall, Rev. Pete King, and Rev. Trent Jessup. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 and then Mrs. Evans will lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service start. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gardner and his staff and to Winston-Salem Nursing and Rehab for all of the love and compassion shown to Mrs. Evans throughout her illness.
