Ora Gene Cockerham

Mr. Ora Gene Cockerham, 98, of Mt. Airy, passed away at Central Continuing Care, Saturday, August 13, 2022.  He was born in Surry County, August 7, 1924, to the late Dan and Rosie Cockerham.  Mr. Cockerham retired from Surry County School System after several years of service.  He attended Faith Baptist Church when his health permitted.  He is survived by a son-in-law, Gray Browder; his grandchildren, Heather Golding and husband Charles, Matthew Cockerham; his great grandchildren, Courtney Ore and husband Brian, and Devin Gammons; great-great grandchildren, Oaklynn and Lucas.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Cockerham was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Matthews Cockerham; his children, Brenda Cockerham, Linda Browder, and Bruce Cockerham; and all his siblings.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev.
