Orbie "Aubrey" Edward McBride

Mr. Orbie "Aubrey" Edward McBride, 74, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008, at his home. Mr. McBride was born September 5, 1933, in Surry County, to Wade Hampton and Lillie Cook McBride. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. McBride had attended Flippin Memorial Baptist Church and was a retired electrician. Surviving are a sister, Alma Dawson of Mount Airy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edd and Ruth McBride of Mount Airy and Osler McBride of McComb, MI; four nieces and spouses, Teresa and Mike Venable and Vickie and Dwight Bruner, all of Mount Airy, Lisa and Chris Smith of McComb, MI, and Amy and Aaron Trudo of Raleigh; two nephews and a spouse, Max Dawson of Knoxville, TN, and Andy and Mary Sue Dawson; and two great-nieces. A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 8, 2008, at 3:00 PM at Korners Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Mr. Eric Sawyers. There will no formal visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Flippin Memorial Baptist Church, 1344 McBride Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
