Oscar Carlos Vernon

Mr. Oscar Carlos Vernon, 83, of Mount. Airy, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Vernon was born November 29, 1926, in Surry County, to the late Claude and Gennie Poore Vernon. He retired from Cross Creek Apparel. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kaye Vernon of the home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Latrice and Roy Hiatt, Claudia and Charles Browing, Labenia Benfield, and Jewel and Charles Hutchens, all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Edith Vernon of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Quesinberry Vernon; and a sister, Juanita Miller. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Bobby Sylvia and Steve Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
