Otis Young Jones

Mr. Otis Young Jones Age 86 of Mt. Airy passed away peacefully on his birthday Tuesday May 29, 2007 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Jones was born May 29, 1921 in Powhatan, VA. to the late Robert McKinley and Maude Frances Clement Jones. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Edith Hauser Jones to whom he was devoted for 65 Years, two daughters Eleanor Jones Meredith and husband Larry of San Antonio, TX. and Deborah Jones White of Mt. Airy, a sister Edith Harrell Martin and husband Raymond of Mt. Airy, a brother Winfred Jones and his wife Jean of Lowgap, seven grandchildren Karen Hanna of San Antonio, TX., Sheldon Meredith and wife Kerry of Roswell, GA., Travis McMillian and wife Shirley of Dobson, Todd McMillian and wife Kim, Angela Goad and husband Wiley, and Chad White and fiance Rebecca Branson all of Mt. Airy and Amy Dalton and husband Kevin of Meadows of Dan, VA and fourteen great grandchildren. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Jones McMillian, a great granddaughter Kayla Nichole McMillian and by a brother Edward Jones. Mr. Jones worked over 30 years in the furniture manufacturing industry. In his early years, Mr. Jones was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a faithful member of Shining Light Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday June 1, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Shining Light Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Elmo Hiatt and Rev. Dean Eaton with entombment to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday night 7 to 9 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC.
