Pansy Louise Dollyhigh Wood

Mrs. Pansy Louise Dollyhigh Wood, 93, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, July 1, 2023, at Central Continuing Care.  Mrs. Wood was born June 5, 1930, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Lacy Harkrader and Mary Janette Blue Dollyhigh.  Pansy owned and operated Pansy’s Beauty Shop for nearly 60 years and was a faithful member of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church.  She was active in many facets of the church, including secretary from 1972 until 1981.  Additionally, she volunteered countless hours as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of Mount Airy Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star for 51 years, serving as Worthy Matron in 1977 and 1994.  Through her work in Eastern Star, she served as Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of North Dakota from 1991 until 1993.  Above all, Pansy was beloved as a wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Tycho Heckard Wood, Sr.; a daughter, Debra Inscore; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tycho Wood, Jr. and Marie Wood and Johnny and Bobbie Wood; six grandchildren and their spouses, Chad Wood, Dr. Amy Howell and her husband, Dr. Eric Howell, Abbie Kinnear and her husband, Kasey Kinnear, Hannah Wood, Justin Inscore, Brittany Anderson and her husband, Paul Anderson; and nine great-grandchildren, Gabbie Wood, Kaitlyn Wood, Aidan Howell, Evan Howell, Knox Kinnear, Kensie Kinnear, Finley Wood, Lauren Anderson, and Allison Anderson.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Inscore; and three sisters, Bessie Marshall, Margie Whitaker, and Pauline Beasley.  A service of worship and celebration of Pansy’s life will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert McCrary and the Rev. Kevin Minix officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Central Continuing Care.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haymore Memorial Baptist Church, P.O.
