Mrs. Patricia Nadine Estes McHone, 72, of 612 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, November 18, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born August 23, 1937, in Surry County, to the late William Melvin and Ruby Elizabeth Gardner Estes. She retried from the Surry County Department of Social Services and Hospice of Surry County. Mrs. McHone was a member of Franklin Height United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, LeAnn Hamlin Wright of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Wallace "Wally" and Paula B. Hamlin of Mount Airy and Martin Wade and Mary C. Hamlin of Dobson; five grandchildren, Christopher Jordan Wright of the home, Erin Elizabeth Hamlin of Dobson, Jennifer Elise Wright of the home, Stacey Elaine Hamlin of Dobson, and Zach Jurney of Mount Airy; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and John Cantrell of Pinnacle and Gaye and Charles Rollins of Greensboro. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McHone was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Edward McHone; a sister, Bonnie Estes Noel; and a brother, Wallace Melvin "Monk" Estes. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 20, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd and the Rev. Richard Bufkin officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
