Patty Ann Hodges Marion

Patty Hodges Marion, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 23rd, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Sandy Gallos. Patty was born to Finley and Grace Hodges in Boone, NC on January 4th,1933. She grew up on Howard’s Creek. She moved to Dobson in 1957, and it was home to her and her family. Patty never met a stranger. She was very creative and had a plethora of interests including cooking, dancing, singing, politics, fashion, and shopping. She was active in the Democratic party for many years, traveling to the White House, governor’s balls, and many other political events. She especially loved throwing elaborate parties, dressing her daughters for debutante balls, taking care of animals, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Finley and Grace Hodges; Lewis Willard, her partner for over 30 years; ex-husband and former NC senator, George Marion Jr.; sisters Willy Dixon (Bill) and Emmo Wilfong (Howard), brothers RD Hodges (Kathy) and Charles Hodges (Louise); son-in-law, Chris Gallos; and infant grandson, Matthew Pardue. She is survived by her three daughters: Sandy Gallos of Clemmons, NC; Myra Franklin (Joe) of Clemmons, NC; and Renee Barker (Lynn) of Statesville, NC; granddaughters Courtney Franklin of Clemmons, NC; Dr. Mackenzie Barker of Nashville, TN; and Cassidy McDonald (Tucker) of Statesville, NC. She also has many nieces and nephews that she thought the world of. Patty was adored by everyone, especially her 3 daughters and 3 granddaughters, and she had a knack for drawing people to herself. It has been said, “When We Lose Someone We Love, We Must Learn Not To Live Without Them, But Learn To Live With The Love They Left Behind.” Patty left a lot of love behind. As a mother, she was always there for her girls, and her love was unconditional. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 29th at 1 pm in the Moody-Davis funeral home chapel, with visitation from 12-1 pm. Burial will be at Salem Baptist Church on Rockford Road in Dobson, NC immediately following the service.
