Paul Wade Baker

Mr. Paul “Wade” Baker, 61, of Westfield, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017, at his home. Mr. Baker was born December 24, 1955, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Charlie Edgar and Margie Irene Beck Baker. Wade worked in textiles throughout Surry County all his life. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wanda Gail Collins Baker of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Trena Baker of Mount Airy; a daughter and her boyfriend, Michelle Baker and Zach Thompson of Westfield; four grandchildren, Dustin Hurst and Gage Hurst, both of Westfield, and Austin Baker and Haley Baker, both of Mount Airy; a sister, Shirley Crissman of Siloam; a sister-in-law, Marie Baker of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tom and Joe Frankie Johnson of Pilot Mountain, Dan and Faye Pendleton of Mount Airy, and Bob and Karen Payne of Westfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by an infant sister, Wanda Gail Baker; and a brother, Edgar Lee Baker. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitaker Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
