Mr. Paul Lloyd Branch age 85 of 113 Forest View Drive, Mount Airy, husband of Elizabeth Cockerham Branch, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin. Mr. Branch was born in Surry County on January 18, 1923, son of the late John Branch and Maggie Dunbar Branch. He was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church, a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII, was owner and operator of Thruway Barber Shop and Thruway Shopping Center and constructed many homes and several motels in Mount Airy and Yadkin County. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Cockerham Branch of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Emily Branch of Clemmons; grandchildren and spouses, Lisa Bass and Ken of Aberdeen, Jason Branch and Jaclyn of Winston-Salem, Shannon Adkins and Joey of Pilot Mtn. and; five great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Rosa Branch and Callie Lothian both of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Branch was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence Branch, Webb Branch, Ellis Branch and Warren Branch. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Bannertown Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Dr. Roger Gilbert with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home 206 West Pine Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030 on Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church, 1834 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to the Alzheimer's Foundation 1315 Ashley Brook Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103
